The association<\/strong> Way of Solidarity with Christians of the East and the victims of violence in the Middle East<\/em> –<\/strong> Chemin de Solidarit\u00e9 avec les Chr\u00e9tiens d\u2019Orient et les populations victimes de violences au Moyen Orient  (CSCO)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As committed Christians we have founded the association \u00ab \u00ab Way of Solidarity with Christians of the East and the\nvictims of violence in the Middle East – Chemin\nde Solidarit\u00e9 avec les Chr\u00e9tiens d\u2019Orient et les populations victimes des\nviolences au Moyen-Orient<\/em> \u00bb. By doing this we wished\nto support the opening of a legal entry channel in Switzerland-Europe to allow\nSyrian and Middle Eastern students to continue their studies away from violence\nand to contribute to the future reconstruction of their country.
\nThanks to the contacts we have with the Jesuits of the Middle East and the Monastic\nChristian Ecumenical Community of Deir Mar Musa, we received the nomination of pre-screened\nyoung Syrians applicants.
\nUnfortunately, despite many doors opening including those of Swiss schools\n(HSE- Hautes Ecoles Suisse<\/em>s) and\nuniversities, in spring of 2018, our  project encountered administrative difficulties\nand political obstacles, both at cantonal and federal level. As a matter of\nfact, all VISA applications for Syrian students were refused by the Swiss\nAuthorities.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However other doors in Italian Universities have opened. Therefore the\nAssociation CSCO decided to support Syrian students welcomed by Italian\nUniversities, following the experience of a member of our association, who has\nalready established collaborations with some Italian Universities.
\nThereafter, CSCO association contributed to the arrival of a young girl and\nthree young men who started studying in early September 2018 in Northern Italy,\nin the University of Piedmont Oriental and University of the Studies in\nBrescia. We continue to work towards this, wishing to help other young students to\ncontinue their studies and their training away from the war. The candidates are\nselected according to their academic level and their attitude to integration
\nThe need is great,\ngiven that although the military situation has calmed\ndown in recent months, in Syria, there is still a multitude of active, uncontrolled and armed groups. The war is somehow silent, but not over and the population is\nsuffering more and more. Children and young people are the hope and their education is pillar and\nthe fundamental path towards the reconstruction and peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint Paul wrote in the letter to the Hebrews13,2 :
\u201cDo not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
